Why just six stars in the ‘Seven Sisters?’

Depictions of the Pleiades often show just six stars because, with the eye alone, most people see only six stars here.
The Pleiades – also known as the ‘Seven Sisters’ – is an asterism or distinctive pattern of stars in the constellation Taurus. It looks like a tiny misty dipper. Some people confuse the Pleiades with the real Little Dipper asterism in the northern sky. But the pattern of the Pleiades is much smaller than the Little Dipper. Also, the Dipper stays in the north – while the Pleiades travels from east to west across our sky on a path not unlike our sun.
Depictions of the Pleiades often show just six stars because, with the eye alone, most people see only six stars here. According to Greek legend, the seven sisters were the daughters of Atlas, who was said to carry the sky on his shoulders. Because most people see six stars, there are legends about the “lost” Pleiad. One sister is sometimes said to have veiled her face after the destruction of Troy. Another is said to have been struck by lightning. Still another is said to have hidden in shame after she married a mortal.

Connections, Revelations, Sevens

In terms of content, the structure of Revelation is built around four successive groups of seven: the messages to the seven churches; the seven seals; the seven trumpets; and theseven bowl judgments.[35] The repeated occurrence of the number seven contributes to the overall unity of Revelation. While several numbers stand out -- 3, 4, 7, 10, 12, 24, 144, 1000 -- the number seven appears to have a special significance. In fact, there are twenty-four distinct occurrences of the use of "seven."[42] Seven is considered the number of perfection in Christianity.[43]
One half of seven, 3½, is also a conspicuous number in Revelation: two witnesses are given power to prophesy 1,260 days, or exactly 3½ years, according to the Hebrew year of 360 days;[11:3] the witnesses are then killed, and their dead bodies lie in the streets of Jerusalem for 3½ days;[11:9] the "woman clothed with the sun" is protected in the wilderness for 1,260 days, or 3½ years;[12:6] Gentiles tread the holy city underfoot for 42 months, or 3½ years;[11:2] and the beast is given authority to continue for 42 months, or 3½

The "Seven Sisters" was a term coined in the 1950s by businessman Enrico Mattei, then-head of the Italian state oil company Eni, to describe the seven oil companies which formed the "Consortium for Iran" cartel and dominated the global petroleum industry from the mid-1940s to the 1970s.[1][2] The group comprised Anglo-Persian Oil Company (nowBP)Gulf OilStandard Oil of California (SoCal) and Texaco (now Chevron)Royal Dutch Shell; and Standard Oil of New Jersey (Esso) and Standard Oil Company of New York (Socony) (now ExxonMobil).[3]
Prior to the oil crisis of 1973, the members of the Seven Sisters controlled around 85% of the world's petroleum reserves, but in recent decades the dominance of the companies and their successors has declined as a result of the increasing influence of the OPEC cartel and state-owned oil companies in emerging-market economies.[1][4]
